So I want to use XP MCE on my new computer and rip BRD's. I know with a BR drive I need directx10 to watch them, but can I read the data, rip it, and still watch it as an .MKV?

Currently have no problems watching .MKV's now, just don't know about the whole read/write thing. Because it's data I should be fine, just wondering if anyone's tried it yet.

Also, anyone running a multimedia server? My current computer case can only hold 3 drives suspended by bands, so I was only going to use 2 drives in Raid 0. Raid 5 with 3 drives seems like a bit of a waste, but with 5+ drives would be very beneficial.

I'm not going to build a home server at this time, just thought I'd get a few idea's. A 10TB server would hold about 350-400 BR movies; nearly 1400 DVD's plus extra's.
