Wassup Guys, anybody out there using Blox Racing Plenum Spacers and how do they compare against Motordyne spacers?
Reason I ask if because my mechanic can get these for $90, pretty good price!

They are much more affordable :chuckle: Seriously though there is no real difference between all the different brands of plenum spacers... they all get the job done

Any updates ?! Have you installed it yet OP ? I have a dilemma on which one to get:( Need to get the car tuned and would like to add this last bolt on. I understand u are in Cali so no need for isothermal for you . I live in Nj and the temps do get really low in the winter. Is the motordyne iso thermal really neccessary at 250$ I can get the Kinetix V+ . Any recommendations ?

Hey Partysan, the shop received the item but they've been pretty busy and I haven't had time to stop by to get it installed. I will get it installed sometimes next week for sure.
From what I've heard you will need to get the Copper Iso Thermal plenum spacer for snow weather. You can find these on ebay for less than $230.00 shipped.

Yeah still at $230 sound a little too high for just a spacer . Kinetix v+ is 280 ... I understand that so many swear by motordyne and thats what keeps me towards it. If someone who has the Kinetix V+ Plenum can confirm a direct bolt on and that hood closes with zero issues I'll kust go for it.

The copper plenum spacer option from motordyne is simply the spacer made from copper. It's supposed to isolate the upper from the lower and better dissipate heat. What you may want to think about not doing in areas where the weather goes below -10 is the TB bypass as part of the kit. There are a few motordyne kits out there with various other copper spacers for the lower plenum further reducing heat creep. I've got the skunkz2 carbon fibre plenum spacer and love the gains especially with the port and polish done to the lower plenum. Very easy to do yourself.

Sure. Easy as pie, however it takes time and patience. When installing the spacer it's only about 6 more bolts to take the lower plenum off. I'm sorry I didn't take pictures. What I did was unbolt the top bolts to remove to upper plenum then remove the Pcv valve hose and remove the lower plenum. I also removed the gasket on the intake runners to clean it up a bit. Some people replace that gasket but mine was fine. I took the lower plenum into the shop where I had a 120 grit sanding wheel which I attached to a Dremel extension flex adapter and got to work. I then switched to a 400 grit sanding disk and finally a nylon polishing bit to polish. What I did was remove the cast marks and the entire inside of the lower plenum smoothed out the rough surface. The runners is where I remove a bit of material to make them slightly larger. I used the gasket to match the bottom runners. YouTube port and polish and you'll see how it's done. I then cleaned it completely using acetone and washed it under running water to remove bits and re-install. My spacer had a built in silicone gasket seal so I had to cut the lower plenum gasket so the only part left was the inside portions where the six bolts hold down the metal plate where the Pcv valve connects. I also took the liberty to clean the tb and upper plenum of the soot and oil. It's intimidating but you need to just get past that and get to work.

Thanks for sharing it does sound like it takes a bit time, does that make a difference in power or just for looks?

I'm sure it does but I have no evidence since I performed it at the same time as installing the spacer. I've done this to one of my other cars as well and given everyone recommends doing it I don't see why not, but again no real proof. Maybe someone else does.

there is a difference in performance when port/polish the lower plenum. I didn't perform the process myself, but I picked up the Motordyne MREV2 (port/polish lower plenum) and installed it myself - very easy process....I posted a thread about it sometime ago...here's some pix.

real world feel: car opens up on the upper rpm's and speed
dyno: helped add gains

I'm also running the 5/16 Motordyne spacer...

side by side comparison (mrev2 on towel / stock lower plenum far right)
Image

stock lower plenum - a lot of rough edges
Image

MREV2 (modified lower plenum - port/polish) - smoother finish and all around feel
Image

intake runners of MREV2 - very smooth
Image

Lower plenum gasket by Motordyne - a lot thicker than the stock - really keeps heat down

Thanks CPJ LB, I spoke with Motordyne they advised to get the 5/16 plenum and I asked them what about mrev ? They said that it only add 3HP onto of the plenum. I don't think I'll be getting the mrev...
NFL is back in next, maybe if I hit couple of parlays LOL

Yes but that 3hp plus the spacer could equate to more. Just do it yourself. It would take you about 3-4 hours. How much is your time worth, maybe $50 an hour? That would set you back $200 and you can let everyone know you did it.

Yes exactly!! the additional hp on top of the other mods make a difference...and I definitely noticed the difference

just look into the g35 classifieds and you'll see a lot of used mrev2's being sold...that's how I picked up mine - I think I paid less than $260...can't remember, but I know a brand new mrev2 is $400+

@ Wangtang408, once you install the spacer you will notice a difference...its enjoyable...then you'll need to eventually get a tune...try and get all of your important mods put on (exhaust, intake, spacer, ztube, etc) and get the Uprev...your car will feel different and become more enjoyable to drive....

I will get exhaust first, then Uprev. My vendor said he is taking pre-orders for Megan $315 + tax and shipping, shipment on 9/17.
I've always been on the fence on Megan...I don't really like the design, the tips look really thin plus most M owners have Megan.
The only reason that I was considering Megan is because is direct bold on...for Megan exhaust, mid pipes & Y pipe looking at 800-900?
I'm thinking about going custom exhaust, I will stop by this week at this well know shop (always recommended by my mechanic)
to get a quote, from what I hear, it will be almost half cost from Megan.
