I have an 07 M35 with the stock goodyear rs-a's today I had a blowout on my right rear, no obvious cause for it that I could see....One thing though, upon inspecting all of the tires , they have the imprint "this side inward" Facing outward!!!! You guys think this could have caused it?? the tread on all the tires looks good, but I ruined the sidewall on the tire that blew because I had no where to pull over, So I am definitely gonna replace it. Do I have to replace with another goodyear as long as I use the same size?? Any tire reccomendations?? I can't really afford to do all 4 right now. All of the tire tread look basically new....Also, (and I think I know the answer to this question), should I have the other tires remounted so that the "this side outward" is actually facing outward? Thanks for any help!!

They're not uni-directional tires as far as I know. Do they have an arrow on the sidewall indicating the proper rotation of the tire with the car moving forward? The tread pattern may produce better traction if installed properly, but I don't think installing them "inside out" would have an adverse affect on the life of the tire. A general rule of thumb is to keep the same make and model of tire on the same axle. Tread pattern differences may give you an unacceptable ride or could produce control problems especially when breaking hard or cornering hard.

I would take it as a chance to ditch those POS stock tires!

If you can't afford 4 new tires, I would stick with the same one again so you dont mess up the traction. Ebay often has these tires lightly used for really cheap since so many cars have them from the factory. Not sure what size you need, but here is an example:

Good luck!

Great, Thanks for the replies!, They don't have the arrow, just the inward/outward labels..... I think I may just replace the one with the same crap goodyear now, and switch out all in a year or so...
