I have about 7K on whats supposed to be a 30K tire (Falken Ziex) just did my first rotation at 5K. I blew out one of the front tires, which was rotated from the back, so it was one of the two with quite a bit more tread.

Here's the question:

Should I replace just the one tire, or replace 2 so I can still rotate evenly?

BTW, I never come close to getting to the waranteed milage on my tires, maybe b/c the J is so heavy. The last set, Dunlop SP SPort A2 (400+ treadwear) went 10,000 miles on a 50,000 warranty. These are 260 I beleive and wont last another 10K probably 7K.

Maybe theres another reason why your tire keeps blowing... alignment??

Try Michelin Pilot H4 in slightly larger but ok 225/60/15 size. {extra 6% in load reserve can add 10% or more in life.}

The A2 being a $64 tire is not up to stress vs the $100 tiresBstone Turanza LSH, Michelin H4, etc.

But agree sounds like you have other suspension problems also.........as even the AVS I lasted 15k.

Still doesn't answer the question of whether I should replace 1 or 2 tires if I'm only likely to get another 10K on them at best.

This is my first blow out, as for suspension issues, I have it aligned regularly and I do not have uneven wear that might indicate a camber or toe issue - but I do need to replace the struts I'm sure.

I know the A2s arent a good tire, but they have hard compound and were to the treadbars w/i 12K miles

Dennis, I will look at the H4 for my next tire.

get two tires. Ifyou want to get technical, measure your tread depth, (new tires usually come with 10/32") and see where you're at, if you're less than 7/32" on the matching tire(same axle), get two and be done with it....

you can get away with 1 if you want..

as far as premature wear, I'd look into your alignemtn settings more closely, as well as the condition of your shocks/struts etc

also, you may want to start rotating your tires every 3k, not 5k..-chet
