Just curious if anybody has blown their stock VLSD in a 240. When i got the car, it had a stock one in it but it wouldnt hook up, didnt know it was even VLSD until i pulled it out and seen the sticker that cant be seen with it in place. WTF??? LOL. Anywho, wondering cuz when i swapped it out with a J30 dif it would lock up just great. But now it acts like the first one i had in it, where sometimes it does but at times it doesnt. How could i blow it?

The shim inside the vlsd, which expands and contracts to lock or unlock the diff usually ends up wearing out and unable to lock.
It's one of the downsides of a VLSD.

If you are willing to, you can take the differential apart and put in a newer, thicker shim.
If you do a Google search for "240sx vlsd shim", there are a few guides out there that show you how to do it.

Meh this is the lesser rare of the two. The shim creates the pressure which allows the VLSD unit to lock the gears. The VLSD unit is hydrolic and over times it wears down and leaks out and fails. This is the downfall to a VLSD. Now a good unit can be shimmed to lock more aggressively, but the VLSD unit has to be good to do so.
