yep my turbo blew, typical old piece of trash. it was a t3/t04e probally had a million miles on it but i only paid 200 for it. i could tell the car lost balls and was puffing smoke when i accelerated , the last holeshot had a gigantic cloud of smoke following me so i trailered the car home. i did compression check , all cyls. were at 155 , perfectly.. looking into a new turbo , current options are phoenixturbo's t3t04e and ebay. if i were to buy the ssautochrome gay turbo would it be worth 450 bucks opposed to my 200 dollar turbo that lasted 2 weeks? anyways if there is an outstanding preference for ka-t i would like to kno. need to make a decision before i get back from vacation next monday. where can i get the best deal on a turbo i need to drive it to florida in a few weeks, i am in ohio so thats a decent drive. thanks fellow ka-t peopel have a nice day

The http://www.phoenixturbo.com turbo is gonna last for a long time as long as you take care of it. Thats what I would do unless you can find something on one of the classifieds sections.

With $450, you can most likely buy a decent turbo from our sponsors, or a slightly used one in the classifieds.

And I don't think 155 psi on your compression is "perfect". ...or perhaps I missed the sarcasm.

i believe the engine came from an early 89 which was supposed to be lower compression, the test was cold but it was identical for each cyl. the engine is in great shape and has less than 60k or so i was told but i wouldnt doubt it.

i had my turbo rebuilt by cheapturbo.com which i think now is phoneixturbo mentioned above. a basic rebuild is like $250. i needed a new compressor wheel so it came to $350 about 2 week turn around

yeah my turbo wont be worth rebuilding, the turbine wheel compressor wheel and entire center section got it good. all the fins are bent up really bad and the shaftplay takes up the space behind both wheels, lovely. time to invest in something good becuase the rest of my setup is perfect.

If your gonna buy one i would just buy the most reliable. May be a bit more expensive but if u blow a turbo again from buying the cheap one then your out that money anyway.

I heard from someone that compression numbers dont really matter as long as they are all similar and consistant...It seems to be a reliable source too. Is that true? Maybe he just meant that it doesnt matter to a certain degree?

Ill take 350 +shipping. for my t28 that I never used. It came on my motor from heavythrottle and I immediately put a gt2871r on it. Its in excellent condition. Hit me up with an email. [email protected]
