Ok my motor has killed two t25's in two weeks. luckily I got both of them for next to nothing. when they were both put onto the car, they had very small amounts of shaft play. VERY minimal. the first one lasted about 500 miles before it blew. it was boosting at 7psi. it didn't burn oil. when the turbo went, what happened was that it wouldn't build boost and I could hear the shaft/turbine/compressor blades scraping something inside. it just stayed right below 0, around 3 vac. I had a top fuel bov on it, which was recirced, but it did get some compressor surge. I pulled the turbo off and the shaft play on it was no joke. you could rotate it in all directions. I had a 3 inch down pipe and test pipe going into a 2 inch stock exhaust. I thought that was what had killed it so I installed a 3 inch and put on my other t25. it worked great for the first 1 minute. I drove it up my street and back, slowly seeing if it was building boost safely, which it felt like. then I did one floored run, it boosted to 7psi, felt great, then it died right after. I heard the same thing I heard from the other turbo, and it has a s***load of shaft play on it now. and this was after a minute or two of driving it. there was compressor surge also with this. I also did not reuse the same lines from the first blown turbo. anyone have any ideas? neither times burned oil, so the seals did not go.
