hey all, picked up a 1993 5spd 4X4 pickup over the weekend, for what i thought was pretty cheap. the short version is the motor grenaded on me on the drive home. i think ive found a replacement engine, but a salvage yard i'd called was tellin me that in 1993 there were 2 different 4 cyl engines, depending on the manufacture date.

does this sound right? if so are there any dead visual give-aways? im just wanting a straight swap with as few modifications as possible, so i want to be sure i get one that matched right up, taking ecm, wiring, bolt patterns, ect. into account.

thanks guys.

In 93 it was either the 2.4l ka24e or the 6cyl.

my truck is a 95 but has some odd 93 parts... mayby yours is in the same boat. one sure fire way to check which is the alternator mounting bolt positions. the 93 and earlier that i have has 2 mounting holes, and theyre about 30 degrees out of being 180 from eachother. the other engine that went in some to the older dates has the mounting holes 180 to eachother
