The gasket to the outlet of the manifold to the turbo is leaking. Will I have to pull all the manifold and turbo off the engine to get to the gasket?

ive done this twice. worst..... part..... ever.....it wouldnt be so bad if the locking plates were,nt so hard to get to. i seriously take me about 8 hours from start to finish. then again i do work kinda slow. and the first time i did it, i had a broken exhaust manifold stud i had to drill out, tap, and insert a coil.

Get "turbo-keeper" or "lock-tab" nuts....Call 240sxmotoring or heavy throttle for more detail. I actually went and bought washers and nylon lock nuts. Of course the nylon will melt through but they work nonetheless...

yup those are locking plates... Purpose of them is to keep the nuts from spinning loose.

alternative would be to get nuts that deform while you tighten them. Not the nylon crap but actual metal nut that deforms.

Also, in order to replace that, it's much easier to take the turbo+manifold+o2 housing combo out all together.

It will take you about 2~3 hours.

This would be a good time to upgrade to all metal gaskets and better O2 housing, tubular header, bigger tubo, etc etc :-D

may i emphasize how much I hate locking plates, i'd rather deal with 17 year old locktight that those. Number 1 you break them to get it off, number 2 you can't find them (u cant get oem), and number 3 its really hard to reuse them.

Atleast this is what it was like with my tie rod ends, my suggestion to you is just get locktight

/end random thread troll and rant
