i have a 93 KA-T and just today it started blowing out ALOT of white smoke at idle and low speeds. I checked compression and it was 170 all across. i think my hg is blown or could my turbo oil seals be blown out they where leaking before but after i took it for a drive and boosted a couple of times it started smoking alot and now the turbo wont spool and when i hit WOT there is no power at all?

if you blew your headgasket, your engine would overheat constantly. start the car when its cold with your radiator cap open. if you see bubbling at the radiator, then you have a bad HG.

turbo seals will be a blueish smoke. white is coolant man. whats yor coolant levelk in the radiator? drain your oil and look at that. it might not necessarily be a hg you could have a crack in a casting

the smoke is deffanatly white because there is lots of it but it doesnt overheat as far as the casting being cracked would that make my compressions really low, but then again would a blow hg make my compressions low too?

yes, a blown hg would make your compression low.

well if its all uniform, i doubt its a HG because i doubt it would blow evenly across the whole block. plus your not over heating. are you losing coolant?

it sounds like your turbo seals blew, sometimes oil smoke comes out white, but since you are not making any boost then it sounds like the turbo

Based on what YOU described, I'd check the turbo, especially if compression is high and uniform across the board. Even if an engine's bad with a blown HG, a turbo should still be able to spin and freely wot because there will still be quite a bit of exhaust gases exiting to energize the turbine...but if the turbo's not spooling or making power, I'd check the turbo...better that than a HG though, HG's are HUGE PITAs....

yea i looked at my turbo and i think that is the problem the turbine has a MAD amount of shaft play and if i start it it will spin but it sloppier than a 50 cent hooker. i think that im getting alot of oil going through those blown seals bacause there is alot of smoke what would a rebuild kit on a tubonetics T3/T4 turbo cost or is it no salvagable?

probably if you are getting alot of shaft play. I had got thining about it and i have seen turbos and valve stem seals let a whiteish smoke out. But by the time i went to post these guys were all over it. Thats why i love nico. Most dudes on here know there sh1t. Good luck man
