I just blew my headgasket last night, No idea how it happened. I rolled up too a stop light and my car just shut off, motor would turn, it just would not start, so we roll start it. Its running weird, like it has power its just delayed. Well Iam trying to get back to my house, as soon as I pull into base the temperature sky rockets. I turn off the car. Let it sit, check the oil and it has a greenish sludge on the dipstick. We wait alittle while, I start it back up and its making a weird noise. Iam positive I blew my headgasket. The noise maybe the timing chain? But the car has power, once it gets above 3k but its hesitant to get there. This morning looking at the dipstick.

Now going back and getting pictures, it looks like it maybe the timing chain making the noise. How could I tell if it was a rod bearing?

Pictures of my oil. Pictures came out blurry but this one. Batteries dead.

what year is it?I thought it was a head gasket on my 89 till i replaced it and my oil was still milky the timing chain slit a hole in the water jacket on the timing chain cover. if it did do that your gona need to take the cover off and have it aluminum welded and get a timing chain kit. if it is the head gasket sorry to confuse the issue.

one thing you can try is. drain the oil (leave the plug out)and pour water in the radiator. if is comes out the oil pan its the cover

If that's all that happened you're lucky.

Mine blew the headgasket this summer, sent all the pressure down the water jackets and blew the top out of the radiator. Had to limp the car like 5 miles to my girlfriend's house, then trailer it another 10 miles home. In the process I screwed one of my sideskirts up; so after a new radiator, headgasket, and weekend at the body shop it was back on the road.

Good luck with it.

Well its turns out it may not be my headgasket. Tore the oil pan down and bamm, my freaking timing guide was sitting right in it?!?!?!? Pulled it completly out and it had broke in half and it was making the clunking noise, it was resting and smacking the chain its self. Then I took off the front cover and bamm, the bolts had fallen off my timing set and fell into the oil pan. The tensioner was still pressed hard against my chain and that side guide, so I think Iam saved on valves, the timing may be just alittle off(will correct that). The biggest thing is of why I think all the water ended up in my oil, the chain had rubbed alittle slit right on the water jacket. Thats how the water ended up in my oil, which at first lead me to believe my headgasket was gone, but then again my car was not smoking. Now my search is for a new front cover or find someone that can weld it up good. Any suggestions.

Will get pics tomarrow of all the nasty stuff, mmmm.
