Edit** Motor is a KA24DE. Which is pretty weird to the nissan dealership out here, since, according to one of the reps they didnt put a KA24DE motor in 93 240sx's...

well made a thread a while ago about my car idling horrible..

Checked everything, from Injectors (Bought 3 of them and none fixed issue) Plugs(more on that below) Distributor, and everything else in between.

Well after I messed around and threw new orings on all injectors, started car up and idled like it was brand new. Took it out for a spin around the block. Got to a stop sign about a min from house, and car died while coming to a stop. Tried starting it up, but wouldnt turn over untill i pumped the gas pedal. Once running smoke started pouring from exhaust (white Smoke).

Pulled the car into garage and could smell a sweet smell from exhaust, which i know usually means bad gasket. Drained oil, since when i looked at it, it was black, and was only in the car for 500 miles (Drive up to ohio and a little bit around). After draining the oil I smelled it and there was a scent of gas.. Pulled plugs, and well only plug #3 was still good. Plug 2, was fouled, and covered in gas, and plugs 1, and 4 where fouled.

So.. My questions:

Am I kinda leaning in the right place as to the symptoms of a blown HG?

Head studs.. after searching I keep seeing different answers, Use old ones or get new ones?

Something a newb like me can accomplish? Im pretty mechanical inclined, when i have the right tools, and unfortunately, Im at my mothers house, with barely any tools..

Looked at the FSM, and the only thing im worried about is the timing..

Out of a job, so imma gonna have to tackle this myself. Already started tearing apart motor, Valve cover is already tore off, exhaust manifold is unbolted.

Thanks.

hello hydro locked engine! Your cylinders are probably full of fuel due to bad orings in the fuel injector rail. Take the plugs off and look inside of the cylinders.

if your changin the head gasket..you might as well change to arp studs man....arp studs use a better clamping force than the normal oem bolts..i would sugest a meatal layerd gasket "Cometic" or what not to resist pressures from the engine...its too bad your not well funded..at this point into a tear down..there are lots of options for your car..new pistons..rods..main studs..and most of all..cams..these few mods can net huge power gains over the intire powerband...i wish you well sire..what ever you decide.

dont think its hydrolocked. I only notice fuel on the plug after I bought a Python Injector ( I know... I know.. But I needed one to replace one ASAP, and for 50 bucks couldnt pass it up) from Nopi. And it was only ran for a total of 3 mins after the injector was installed.

Its been airing out with valve cover and plugs out for the past week almost.

And Ill check into some ARP studs.. I have some money but I need to make it last long as possible specially with a 4month old daughter. Just hate driving my wifes maroon nissan altima. I need my 240 RUNNING.

take out all 4 plugs and unplug injectors electrical harness. rotate motor with them out and see if any fuel comes splashing out. Also, look in the tutorials about fuel injector leak.

Typical symptoms of blown head gasket: Thick White smoke in the exhaust with a sweet smell that when you feel it it feels slimeyCreamy white colored s**t in the oil which is a sign that coolant is getting into the oil.Crap compression with two adjacent cylinders

its not that hard to replace headgasket yourself. If you're gonna do all the work to pull the motor apart look for other stuff that you can replace or upgrade since you already have the head off. for instance head studs, other gaskets, etc

Notice that when I was setting engine to TDC, for like a 1/4 to 1/2 a turn on the crankshaft pulley, it was extremely easy..

So now that I got some time this week to do nothing gonna hopefully finish this tear down, throw the HG in, and hopefully make it back to MD.

Then Tear it all apart again with the right tools, and rebuild it all..

Quick question..

Anyone have any feedback on Thermagasket? or any of the Block/gasket sealers?
