ok i dont kno if you guys remember me or not, but recently did an s13 blacktop in my s13. I have some bolt-on's, greddy ebc, fmic, greddy rs bov, etc. I'm still stalling when i stop bc i havent hooked up my safc yet and im running an open bov. As of right now im jus givin it a little gass when i slow down to keep it running..i dont think i would be doin that right? It was running fine when i first got it together but now it's burning oil...sometimes ???? I did a compression test and cylinders 2,4 came up low. I can def feel the lost in power..but sometimes the power is there but doesnt stay. However it doesnt overheat at all?? wouldnt it over heat if the headgasket was blown? I asked around and some people said it could be a blown headgasket even tho it's not overheating. I heard that headgaskets can mess with compression too.what do you guys think headgasket or piston rings?? Im hoping its the headgasket lol (fingers crossed)

Blown headgaskets don't always leak coolant. Personally, it's probably pistons/rings. I've seen more imported SRs with piston issues than with head gasket issues due to someone cranking the boost up too much back in Japan.

Yeah, probably piston rings because1. you have low compression which could be headgasket as well, but 2. if you are buring oil that means you could be getting blow by which is oil seeping past the rings and into the combustion chamber causing it to burn oil.

A leak down test will tell you whats going on.

yeah if it was headgasket you would probably be burning coolant not oil

What were the compression results?

Burning oil could also mean turbo on its way out.

i did the test a while ago it came up pretty bad i think it was : 125, 25,128, and i forgot the other number ill do it again and repost..

I waas thinking the turbo too bc before i put this turbo i have on now it wasnt smokin at all with the other turbo i had. My compression was good b4 this turbo and everything. It recently started doing this after i swapped to this one. The reason i swapped turbos is bc i blew the oil seal out of my old one. This turbo also doesnt pull as hard as the other one either.

will a leak near the oil pump cause the motor to burn oil? or affect the compression in any way after a period of time?

DO AN OIL CHANGE INTO A CLEAR CONTAINER IF U SEE THE COOLANT AT THE BOTTOM THEN U GOT UR PROBLEM
