blown head

My buddy just bought an 89 s13 with an SR20det redtop in florida. it overheated on the way back to michigan and apparantly now it is failing the compression test. I know that this means head/headgasket. I'm trying to help him out cuz I'm the nissan man . any idea how hard is it gonna be for a shop to do this with the jdm engine/parts. I guess the headgasket would be the only new part needed but anyone have some experience with an unknown shop servicing their JDM engine, particularly the head? any help would be appreciated.

just get an fsm and do it yourself. otherwise your gonna pay a shop, who has as much experience working on the sr as you, an arm and a leg.

probably the toughest part will be keeping the chain from falling down. otherwise it's not that bad. Just do it yourself and post questions if they come up.
