i dont know how i blew my head gasket but hey things happens i got a new engine with 27,000 miles on it and the mechanic wants to charge me 800 to put the engine in is that a reasonable price or that is too much

i vote reasonable. does that include removing the current engine and installing the new one? if so. thats a good deal. fwd swaps can be a pita, or very easy.

Can't you just replace the head gasket?

Trust me. The engine swap is easier . Also there is the chance of heads being warped from a possible overheat.

Shop manual has it at 16.7hrs, which works out to $47.90/hr. That's a good price.

i am gonna do a compression test on the car to see what the problem is the car runs horrible it feels like it doesnt want to move i have to step on the gas really hard for the car to move and it also pulls badly

i would update everything you can though while that engine is out. (new bushings/mounts/hoses/etc...) like i said, if its 800 for taking the old one out and putting the new one in, i think its a deal.
