1000 yikes
Step one.... Remove the head and take it to a machine shop and have it inspected. Most likey they will have to mill it because it may be slighlty warped. This should cost about 100 bucks. While they have it, ask them to repace the valve stem seals. (parts about 35 bucks, labor meh 75 bucks)
What you need is a OEM or quality head gasket, valve cover gasket set, intake gasket, and while your at it, replace the timing chain and front cover gasket, and other little odd gaskets. NEW HEAD BOLTS ARE A MUST
Reinstall, with new gaskets, and reshim the lifter buckets, enjoy.
Total cost to do it youself with good gaskets, valve stems, machining, and shimming the lifters 350-400 bucks. So 1000 just to remove and replace gaskets, yea count on that going up because that head is not straight. I'm sure all said and done its gonna be like 1300. Now there is a lot to remove. Find a friend who knows cars, or a few, get some pizza and a case of beer.
