The subject line reminds me of the bottom droping out of a 7+ liter Cadillac V8 trying to keep up with my little Alfa Romeo 2 liter I4 back in the 1970s. If I could have stopped laughing, I would have gone back to help. Maybe.

Now that was a truly "blown" Cadillac.

Have to say I thought the same thing when I saw "blown caddy", as most don't supercharge Cadillacs.

The Northstar has been supercharged succesfully, although not many Caddy owners opt for it..

That is what trully rocks with the CTS V, you're getting the LS6.. Performance potential=unlimited

The problem with supercharging the northstar is its VERY expensive due to the head gaskets...

The enigne has a hard time staying together with the stock headgaskets, and boost would only continue that problem... most poeple who do anything like that (FI, NOS, etc) get rebuilt heads with beefier headgaskets, headbolts that have been time-serted, and it goes on...

I feel lucky being able to get a blown V8 for under 5 grand..... not possible on the northstar, PLUS its FWD so youd have to have some serious slicks to get any sort of traction.....

Does this apply to the 98 or more specifically the 2000+ northstar?

They completely changed the internals on the engine for the newer model years...

Even if you don't supercharge, you can chip/header/exhaust and run in the 13s north of 100...

The 2000+ engines are still experiencing some problems, but most arent at high enough mileage to tell.. they have improved...

However, the major problem with them is the Crank angle sensors... They are still backordered, they cant mae enough of these.. I believe its a TSB.....

No one to my knowledge has blown an OBDII northstar.....

Again, even if you COULD boost the piss out of it (which it cant take as mucha s the VH, weak heads across the years) you would be limited by traction...

Thers a guy on the caddy forums with a 97 ETC and he's put a 175 shot of nitrous on it (dont know details) and even with that he didnt have full traction at all throughout the run... he said he had bad tires but he kinda had to limp it down, enver got to really put down the hammer.....

So basically, the limiting factor to the boosting of a norhtstar is the FWD setup..... HOWEVER, you can convert them into RWD...

The isuzu troopers (not sure on years) have the same bolt pattern and its a bolt on except for you have to relocate one bolt near the starter...... You can use the rearends from them and bolt it right up...... Obviously thered need to be some serious mods to be done but its certainly not out of reach and could be done somewhat economically.. i dont think much frame work woudl have to be done, if any, theyd just have to make a spot for the transmission but I think it wouldnt be a big deal if you place the engine far enough foreward...

Other than that, youd just have to make custom mounts, and rerun most of the hoses and such.....
