Hey, I'm new here, but I'm having a problem with my 240. About a week ago my boyfriend took a motor from a hatch and placed it in a coupe shell. Everything was working fine for about 2 days then the car started acting like it was running out of gas even though it wasn't. The car had been sitting for well over a year so we changed the gas tank and that fixed that problem. Not even the next day the alternator fuse blew. We switched it out and thought it was fine, then the next day it blew again. Today I watched my boyfriend put a third one in and in blew as soon as he was hooking up the battery. What things could cause this to happen? He says it's a ground wire or something, but I've read that it could be a few things.

Any help is much appreciated.=]

Somewhere down the line on that alternator fuse circuit there is likely to be a pinched wire between metal or a bare wire touching metal. Short to ground would be the term i suppose. Tell him to trace it all down there's really no other way to go about it.

there is a plastic piece that goes over the terminal for the power wire on the alternator, make sure it is still there or it will keep blowing that fuse. i had that problem when i put my SR back in.

I just replaced this fuse, the reason it's blowing is because you are somehow grounding the positive post on your alternator. 1st time I blew it I didn't have the plastic shield piece so the positive wire was grounding to the alternator case, 2nd time I accidentally wired my alt ground to the post along with the positive lead (don't ask lol). It's a solid white wire going to your alternator, look to see where it is grounding. Here's a pic of what is still open on my desktop lol.
