My wipers stopped working 2 days ago and I suspected a blown fuse. I was right, so after changing it, the wipers worked for about 5 minutes and blew the fuse again. I changed it again the next day and it blew the fuse immediately.

Anyone experience this before or can point me to the problem? The only problem I had with the wipers prior to this was they did not return to the fully down position when turned off, after I turned on the wipers while they were frozen to the windshield. I believe Wes said this happened to him and he just pushed the wipers to the down position, which is what I did with no problem.

Any help appreciated.

Sometimes Wes just gets lucky. You probably burned out your wiper motor.

There is an old post (probably archived) on replacing the motor. Not a fun job. Bet you won't turn them on again when frozen, nor even leave them on when you shut down the car. I left mine on in the last ice storm and almost cursed myself for being so dumb the next morning.

Not specific to Infiniti, but this is a common method of killing wiper motors. You're only hope is that the fuse blew quickly before the motor (or gear/drive) could be damaged.

I'd say you're in for a difficult Removal & Replacement .

I've searched the e-world over and have not found the removal / replacement instructions for the wiper motor on a '90 model.

Can someone point me to them or does anyone have a copy they can post to this thread?

Thanks

Here are some threads to get you started. There are references to the proper section in the FSM, as well as a link to download the manual.

Doesn't sound too awful.

Thanks for the help. I'm not looking forward to the chore but not having working wipers sucks.

Isn't off2sobe in OK city too?

Might try emailing him.
