I recently switched my alternator because the original was not charging the battery. The new alternator was no good so i did an exchange for another one. Now with the new alternator I am blowing my fusible link. I made sure that the power and the ground wasn't switched. I also had them test the alternator to make sure that it wasn't junk but it passed all tests. I tested some of the wires from the harness but i get lost at this point. It didnt seem to be grounding out on anything but i could be wrong. Not sure what i should be looking for at this point. Any help would be great. thanks

My first guess is the charge wire ( the single large one that bolts to the alternator) and runs to the + battery is shorted to ground somewhere along the way.

I was looking at the charge wire and it seems to look good. I also put a meter to it and was giving my 12v out of the wire. If it gives me 12v it should be good right?

Yes, that means 12V is being dropped between the alternator and the chassis. Which is what the car is supposed to do when it is functioning correctly.

Ok so I started the car without the charge wire connected to the car and it started great without burning up the fusible link. I put the charge wire back on and boom. So I know its the charge wire that's the problem. My question is where does that wire go to? Does it go to a clip somewhere or does it go straight to the battery?

After rewiring the car I found that I was still blowing my fusible link. I tested the alternator before placing it back into the car. Well after beating my head I returned the alternator back and found that its was the alternator. It was passing before i left the store but it had an internal short. Everything is working great now. Thanks for all your help guys.
