ok well i jsut did a motor swap s13 to s14 motor.. and everything was running good for about a week or 2..... then my car violently cuts in and out and jsut dies on me... well my battery is dead as a door nail so i replace it.... connect everything and a big spark comes from the starter... at this point it blew the 75A alt fuse.... so i notice the spark came from the lil brace that goes from the motor mount to the block it wanst bolted at the top( im a ddumbass) and was laying on the positive nut on the starter = big spark = that blew the fuse.. so i fix that so its no longger layin on the starter ... i get a new fuse and upon plugging it up the fuse blows.... so .... does this mean my alternator is fried?... i mean i drove the car home from where it died at but without the ALT fuse i havae power to nothing and im pretty sure the car is just running off the battery....... so is my alternator gone? or what? i dont need it to die again on a new batt............

any help would be GREATLY appreciated

if that positive terminal with the nut on it is shorted then yes you will usually fry the alternator. can also happen if you overtorque the nut it will break inside.

try unplugging the alternator and starting the car with another battery, the fuse should not pop. also if you dont wanna pay $25 for the nissan one you can get a generic 70a or 80a flasher style that you can shove in there (yeah its ghetto and not ideal but its cheap and it works alright?)
