Blowing a RB20 on the first day FTL...

Yep finally got the engine running after 3 igniter ...

Then realized the MAF was bad but I decided to have a ride anyway , I did like 2 or 3 small ride , while shifting at about 1 500 rpm every time .

at the end of the day , I go for another very small ride , and while I came back in my drive way , I big grinding sound and the engine stall right away.

Now the engine hardly crank and wont start . He is hard to turn over , even with spark plug off...

Sound like a seized engine or what ? I get back to my home tomorow , I'll try to push-start it....

Did you happen to put oil in the motor before driving it? LOL Sorry to hear about this. It must suck. Have you tried taking the belts off the motor?

Oil ?? Never heard of that ?

Maybe too much gas in it ... I could tried to take the belt off , but I guess they will slip instead of stopping the starter , I dont know ...!

Possibilities. Bad water pump causing a Drag, bad alternator Bearings causing a drag, ETC. Im sure you don't have the Ac compressor on there but if you do then that could go bad causing a drag also.

First check your oil. Make sure there is no gas or water in it. Then take off your belts and spin the water pump and alternator to make sure nothing is seized up.

Did you have a Water temp gauge? Oil pressure gauge?

Its very possible your motor has set for such a long time the oil pump didn't prime itsself when you cranked it. If this happened and you don't have a gauge to verify this your in for a complete re-build cause you seized every bearing in the motor and possibly ruined the Crank, Rods, Cams ETC. So I hope this is not the case. but you might be looking for a new engine.

are you sure you didn't hear a spark knock not a grind? maybe the clutch grinded or you did by trying to drive a non-working right running car in the driveway.

A few questions: (as stupid as they may sound)

Did you change the oil pump on your engine before installing it?

Did you put oil in, and did you prime the pump before running it?

Check the following:

1st- Check oil level2nd- Take off belts and spark plugs and spin engine by hand (rachet)

I've seen starters not disengage from the flywheel causing a drag as well. Just a thought.

if it ran for more than 30second in the driveway then the pump should have primed...

but couldn't a poorly primed engine starting running for a bit of time cause some premature damage?

To rb25 drag : I just changed to oil but the one in the engine while it break was old and weak ...I ll try to spin accesory by hand...

to s13 240sx : its surely coming from the engine cause its there every time i try to crank it...

And lastely to coolwhip : I did not replace the oil pump but the car had about 20 km in his day without any problem even without the maf connected ....

Also a good point : the engine is full of gasket maker everywhere , maybe a bad rebuilded engine ?

as coolwhip said that could be the starter, mine sometimes does it but only when i'm having trouble to start it.

Here's another thing you can try. I had a problem with my starter. once while starting the engine my foot slipped on the clutch and that caused the starter to tweak the housing just enough that when I started the motor it would Drag VERY VERY slowly and make a awful racket. I thought I screwed it bad. Well I used .060 shims and it fixed my problem. The motor Turns over really fast now. So check that also.

I pushed it with a truck slowly , the car stop immediatly while I release the clutch .

Then I tried it at about 50 kmh and I only got 2 black strip behind my rear tires... So Im getting it out of the bay tommorow ...damn that I hate cars...

yo man before you do that? have you tried starting the engine with starting fluid or with some gas in the throttle body, or by having the maf unplugged?

to s13 240sx : No I didnt try any starting fluid cause the starter hardly turn the engine over and there was no maf at the moment so...

to rb25 drag : I tried it in 1st and second , both at pretty high speed , pushed by a truck and just by hand too.

to kuillinn drifter : No Hydrolock , I removed all the plug and did not fing anything on the top of the cylinders

have you been able to turn the motor over by hand??? cause if its siezed and you cant crank it over by hand, you mind as well pull the cause all your bearings are toast for sure.

Im able to turn it by hand but its very hard , anyway I just pulled it out , I got a good deal on another rb20 and I'll be selling parts of this one ! I'll let you know what went bad with some pics !

Don't mean to give anyone's hopes up for parts. And I don't know how you are fiancially.

But a just a tip to throw up to ya. Maybe you should keep the parts. Get your second rb20 and get it running...and if you are missing parts or have broken parts.. you still have the old engine to rip from.

Then sell.

Be sure that Ill keep the best turbo and check that every sensors, alternator and starter work before I'll sell them ! But i got such a great deal on an other rb !

But for the head just send me a pm and we will work something.
