The TCU is behind the kick panel on the driver side of the car, It's not behind the blower. Little white box.

unless your talking about something else....

manual s13. We are referring to the TCU timing control unit that tends to fry and take the dashlights out right?

looking at this i saw the Transmission control. To get to that you will have to remove the blower. Which does require removal of the dash.

The dash isn't too bad to get out just make sure you label everything well so you know where all the screws go when you put it back together. I think it took me ~1 hour to get mine out.

You can get to the ATCU (Auto Transmission Control Unit) without pulling the blower. IIRC, I had to pull the ASCD box, which allowed me to get a gear wrench up to the bolt holding the the ATCU in.

Hahaa! Amazing all done

Now i was just curious if TCU are interchangeable?

Like they both have different codes, one display C and the other D ..

The ATCU is interchangable with any other ATCU from the same generation. IE you can slap any S13 ATCU in and be fine, but you can't put an S14 ATCU into an S13 chassis IIRC.

And remember that there is no transmission control unit for manuals. In case that's what you meant.

Lastly, I know this may sound a bit nitpicky, but calling it a TCU is confusing. Everyone will think you're talking about the Timing Control Unit as the first response in this thread did. If you call it by its proper acronym, you'll make everyone's heads hurt a little less.
