2002- Pathfinder- The blower/fan only works on the 4th speed. This is a non-temp control climate. Is there a blower amp/resistor for this model? Trying to figure out if I need to replace the amp (if equipped) or the climate control module?
Secondary issue that I live with, Blower motor makes an ungoddly sound when its really cold and on speed 4. Sounds like its rubbing against something but Ive had it apart and can't see anything that rubbing?
Thanks,

Yes, I believe there is an amplifier. My 02 Qx4 had one for the automatic/digital system and it was located somewhere near the blower, in the inlet path of air. A fan that works only at max is a symptom of the amp/resistor that's bad.
The blower is making noises because the bearings have gone bad. Typically, that makes it harder to spin and usually the amp blows. That's how those 2 issues are tied.

I recommend replacing the blower motor then the amplifier, or the replacement amp will go out soon after.

I was just poking around my HVAC system trying to isolate a rattle. Compared to other cars I've had, getting to the motor is easy. All you need is some patience and basic tools.

From prior experience it could be one or two parts causing the issues. On my 03 LE with the automatic climate, there is a resistor right after the flan blower before the filters. This may be shot or in need of a cleaning. Try cleaning this or look up tests to confirm this still works. I believe replacements are around $20.

You should be able to tell if your blower motor or the bearing it sits on is shot once you remove it. I think you only need to remove one plastic panel under neath the motor to take it out. You may have some debris stuck in there rubbing against the fan. Pull it out and you'll be able to isolate the issue.
