Blower motor resistor

When I got my 02 infiniti qx4 ac worked but only on high and continued to blow even after selecting off, few years forward(now), the blower motor craps out so I buy a new blower motor and new resistor, only to find out when.i get in there that someone's been in there before, the blower motor wires are together with wingnuts(don't know if that was how it supposed to be), and no resistor but two of the connections jumped on the plug, plugged in new resistor and nothing happens and won't spin the blower motor, unplug resistor and jump it again and get only full speed again on fan, anyone had this issue before?

Sounds like the resistor has either no ground or no control signal. The blower always has power, the VBC (resistor) works by controlling ground to it. So the Black wire at the VBC has to have good continuity to the chassis or the VBC won't work. See pages HA-34 or HA-39 here to see how the wiring should look:
