Blower Motor Resistor Picture Please?

I lost the middle settings on my heater fan, and I am sure it was the blower motor resistor going bad. Now I don't feel like buying a $10 part with $10 of shipping, and it looks like the coils on mine are good and they check out with a multimeter, however there are two metal straps that LOOK like they were soldered together at one point and broke apart. Sticking 'em back together would be trivial to do, but I wanna check out to make sure they're supposed to be that way first before slapping it in my truck, so if somebody couple confirm/deny this or better yet just snap a picture of their resistor for me (it's easy to get to and pull out) I'd be much obliged.

Yes they are soldered together. Sorry for the bad picture.

I soldered it back up, popped it in, and now I have middle fan speeds again!
