replaced the blower motor today,as it is almost 60 degrees here in Baltimore today! total job took 45 minutes-6 bolts and the entire glove box and lower panel comes out, then 3 bolts on the motor itself- very easy on the 94-96Q. took the time to remove darlington assembly and evaporator looked pretty clean after 170,000 miles-must be due to lots of compressor run time over the years allowing the condensation to flush the evaporator of debris.Took the old motor apart, and the only problem I could detect was the brushes were at their wear limits-probobly could have had them replaced for 20$ by a electric motor repairshop and saved even more.

I didn't see this original post. I have re-sanded my brushes twice in Layla, and they are working fine.

R&R is fairly easy. I did a thread about it a while back.

Glad you got it fixed.

jeff,my brushes were almost gone! any ideas as to where to buy new ones in the correct size and compound for this motor? seems like a total waste to replace entire fan and motor when only needs brushes, which I have heard cost between 4-20 dollars a set.

Check the yellow pages for any kind of electric motor company. There is usually one or two in each city. Most HVAC companies have a contact for motor rewinds ect.
