Hey Guys,

So I get this very high pitch squeaky sound from inside the cabin. It goes away when I turn off the fan, and comes back when the fan is on. I could have swore it was the blower motor, so I replaced it...SAME problem!!

The problem does not go away if it's AC or ECON, and i'm sure it's from the front passenger footwell...any ideas?

No mechanic seems to know...

Does it do it regardless of which vent you are blowing through? Does the pitch or volume change with the speed of the fan?

Not sure about the vent, but it has to be at a very low speed...

This is a known issue with the hvac systems in QX4s and I suppose Pathfinders as well. There is a TSB with it floating around somewhere...

Turns out that all the blower motors make the noise which I believe you are describing. However, there is a new sound-proof-like blower motor cover you can try:

"If a customer indicates that a light ticking or humming noise can be heard coming from the blower motor of anapplied vehicle when the motor is run at low fan speeds (speed 1 or 2), a new, noise reducing blower motorcover is available (see Figure 1). The noise, if it occurs, may be very slight and, at times, difficult to hear."

See TSB here for more info: http://www.gwcustom.com/mirror/ITB99-050b.pdf

My fan does the same thing, there is a slight ticking when it is on a lower speed. Thanks for the ITB links.

I think i'm going to get an aftermarket blower motor then, this is just retarded.

It's more of a high pitched grinding sound for me...sounds like a bee...GAK!
