I bought an 07 m35 in July 2016 w 132k miles. At the time the blower motor on occasion would make loud squeals that came thru the speaker it seemed. Later on it would just kind of make a wobbling sound(cuz it was actually wobbling). The other day the motor finally crapped out altogether. It has a bracket under it. The new motor, according to the mechanic, didn't line up with the bracket. And we didn't appear to need to use it. The mechanic therefore didn't use the bracket. Was this the wrong decision? It was very difficult to figure out the part number because apparently they switched parts in 11/06 and my car was made in 10/06. BTW i got 25% off by ordering online from Advance Auto and picked it up in the store. So do I need to dig the bracket out of the trash? it appeared to hold the motor in place and may have had sound deafening qualities. I got the carquest blower motor part number 75850.

Thank you and yall stay warm!

Are you talking about this metal component?
I don't see it doing much more than being a bottom catch for any debris from the blower motor (brushes maybe), but mine is clean.
It is so thin and hold no insulation so I don't see much sound dampening with it on.

I like to keep things as designed for the most part, but if I lost it, I wouldn't worry too much either. It doesn't seem functionally crucial to me.

I'd offer my spare one to you, but you already said the blower wouldn't fit. I don't see why though... all the pictures I see of the 75850 blower motor show the hole location similar to mine for the most part. This metal bracket just fits over the existing holes.

Yes. The mechanic couldn't get the bracket to fit over the motor. I watched him. The holes lined up so he just inserted the part without using the bracket. He took the old one apart so I am sure if it would have fit he would have figured it out. I believe M35 s manufactured 10/06 and earlier used a different part number than later years.a Im guessing the manufacturer just beefed up the bottom or redesigned the part to render the bracket unneeded and to make the part fit universally. I dont know. But fyi he did it in 5 minutes. It would be nice to know it is not needed for sure. Maybe its just a case the holes line up but the bracket doesn't fit-like OJ's glove. Thank you

I recently replaced my blower motor on the 08 - it did not have the bracket. I used an 06 part which came with the bracket. Everything fit perfectly and the blowers looked similar in all other aspects... for what it's worth
