Where is the best place on the charge piping to mount the MAF? On the Hot Side or the Cold Side? Also what are the benefits of going with a blow-thru-MAF setup other than not having to recirculate the BOV?

its most commonly mounted on the hotside..you'd have to find somebody who has it mounted on the coldside and ask them why the did that because i dont even know why its done that way..the benefit of atmospheric bov (venting) and not recirculating it is because you get the sound more so than you would recirculating it

i had mine mounted on the cold side to reduce the temperature of the air hitting the mafs element. it still died after less than a month. after killing two sensors, i went back to a draw through and havent had problems since. the only benefits i saw was being able to vent atmospherically instead of recirc. some say it has better throttle response, i didnt notice.

are you saying that some people say venting has better throttle response over recirculating? because i heard that recirculating has better throttle response over venting

no, im saying having the maf closer to the throttle body has been said to have better response. not sure on the recirc vs atmosphere.

oh ok i see man sorry about that..ya i heard that recirculating will help with better throttle response and take about a third of a second off of your qm time..not much but you know

the best thing to do if you decide to ditch the mafs is to go maps.

if you have the mafs on the cold or hot side under a good deal of boost then the filament in the mafs won't give quite the same resistance from not cooling as much as if it were draw through.

most of the time when a set-up is on a blow though its i conjunction with a maps.

i was under the impression that a map set up (manifold absolute pressure) completely replaced a maf (mass air flow) set up. hence why you can vent atmospherically. are you sure??

never heard that, wonder where you get the extra horses from??

Running a MAP sensor completely removes the MAF from your setup. Im seriously considering the Apexi Power FC map setup more and more by the day now...

Another alternative is to get the now discontinued HKS VPC to convert get rid of the MAFS.
