Here is a pic of an RB20 in a 280Z, owned by a guy in Atlanta. Check out the MAFS placement. I wanted to do this to finally give my atmospheric BOV the finger, but thought it wouldnt work for some quarky Nissan reason.

So I guess it works fine, anyone else running this setup?

Oh BTW, I have a Cefiro motor and no stock BOV, so mine is on the hotpipe. Guess this wouldnt be any good for R32 motors.

I've ran a blow-through on a KA and a FWD SR, and plan to on the next RB; works fine for me. Carl also did/does the same, except his MAFS was leaking like a mofo for a while.

So the MAF connects to the cold side of the motor? I wanna try this to on my RB25 but I have a custom intake plenum, so I don't have to cross pipes.

Most people run it on the hotside becuase if you stick it to close to the throttle body and BOV, the air that surges or rushed backwards goes back through the maf, and the ECU ****s a brick and your car does retarded things.

never really had a problem with that. i closed the stock bov location and moved it down near the intercooler.

so when i would let off throttle the air would rush back through my maf then to the bov.

few people told me i might have problems, but i never (ie my maf would explode under pressure)

the whole reason i did the blowthru was so i could open bov. which would require the air to come back and go through the maf.

well why are u guys wanting to run blow thru??

i see your bov right near the tb. are u having problems with it?

if your bov is ok then leave it on the hotside. a problem with blowthru is making lil brackets to hold it in place. but the only real reason i see going blowthru is to take care of the open bov

fix the spahgegtti intercooler piping and redo it while plumbing the maf on the coldside of the intercooler.

i run a blowthru maf on my car mainly to stabilize the cam idle as well as reversion problems i could have with the large turbo.its not neccisary but it does allow you to vent your bov to atmosphere, big whoop.

I was going to do that soon fixing that piping was first on my list, now on the coldside how far/close to the Intercooler should it be? And where do you have your BOV at Carl? Hot or Cold side? Pics would help I'm more of a visual person that auditory.

idealy you should have the maf atleast 8" away from the throttle body to prevent reversion thru the maf when the tb closes, so usualy it ends up being in the passenger front gaurd area under the battery tray.you put the bov on the hotside so it wont interfere with the maf reading, it wont vent air quite as quickly as if it were on the coldside but it will still work.

I havent completely tested mine yet but seems good for me, my maf is on the coldside about....8 inch from the TB and the BOV is on the hotside a12 inchs before the intercooler and seems to be perfect so far.oh and make sure the air hose that feeds the IAC valve is after the maf or it wont idle correctly if at all

here a before clean up pic
