What is the purpose of connecting a vaccume line to a blow off valve?

because I installed a skyline blow off valve on my ca18det and when i connected the vaccume line to it opens up at idal which means that the blow off valve is allways open. So i'm losing pressure.

So i wanted to know if the blow off valve would work if i closed up the vaccum line and let the air pressure open it manually.

The pressure under boost helps keep it closed and the vacuum let's it open.

so blocking of the vaccum line to it would do more harm than good?

I thought that doing this would allow the pressure to manually open up the valve instead of the vaccum causing me to lose pressure

your blowoff valve would not respond properly. What type of BOV do you have?
