So I'm running a greddy type rz bov on my rb25det with stock turbo. I've been told by some people the flutter sound it makes is because its set too much to the hard setting and the turbo is surging yet almost every rb25 and supra 2jz's I've heard for that matter sound like that. Is the turbo actually surging cause it's set too hard and I should turn it down to soft or is it normal to have that little flutter I'm sure we all have heard so i don't have to link a video or anything. Also if it is actually surging do i turn it down to the softest setting and loosen or remove the outer spring? I've very confused here as what is best for my engine. Obviously it sounds cool but if it's not supposed to sound like that I don't want it to harm the turbo.

One downside of an atmospheric bov is that it sounds similar to compressor surge, the very thing they are to prevent. Compressor surve is more of a high pitch squeak kind of noise. I run Tail bov's and have never had the need to adjust them beyond their factory settings.

Ok yea one of the best mechanics I know of and alot of people in sd know did the swap and set it to that and never said anything bout it so I didn't know and this guy has been doing swaps for 15-20 years. Done work with mckinney and jim wolf so was just thrown off by all the bs I been hearing and was like there was no way this guy did my s*** wrong.

Swap to a recirc valve and you'll know for sure, it'll also fix that momentary rich condition caused by atmospheric bov's on cars with meterd air (such as nissans).

So quick update when we loosened the nut it was set semi between soft and hard we lowered it to soft and it was still doing it but it was more faint more quick of a flutter after the woosh. In mid to low rps you heard it but in high rpms I couldn't hear it.
