I cant believe I don't have a thread for my z on nico

Hi, My name is Luis and im kinda new to Z's...

.... My last project was a 1989 Nissan 240sx with an RB20det, it was super fun to work on and learn about cars on but the reality of trying to register a modified car in California kicked in as I was finishing the project.... so I sold it.

(was going to be a track/auto-x car)

I then wanted to buy a car I can mod and not get too much drama from California so I bought this car for $1500
Image
The car was originally a California car for most of its life, then lived in Colorado for 4 years ( RUST! NO!!!!!) and now its back in California. I bought it from a shop that builds spec Miatas in Sacramento where it had been sitting for about two years and it needed some work (well a lot of work) to get it to run and drive properly I had to replace the brake master, clutch slave, the carburetors, intake and exhaust manifold gasket.

After dumping a ton of money into fixing it and getting it registered I was able to do a little photo shoot:

interior with a dash I got for free

after Re doing the front suspension bushings with poly and buying new wheels. I tested the car at a local autox.

and recently I had some rust in the floorboard repaired and ran the car on a Mustang Dyno
: Stock L24 from a 1973 240z with 72 su carbs (which I got for free!):

since my engine has "THE KNOCK" I bought this while I was in SoCal visiting my parents. rebuilt l28 block with .50 over bore flat top pistons, and a rebuilt p79 head with a Schneider cam and some triple webers

YUM! Loving this! Mind if I move it to Classic Z General? More people frequent that forum, and I think it'd fit in well. :)

good news and bad news, I got the car running, I put in the shaft that runs the distributor in wrong so I needed to switch around the plug wires to get it running. now it sounds sexy, I'll put a video up tomorrow.
the bad news is that after removing the electric radiator fan, my radiator looks like Swiss cheese and leaks like crazy, time for an aluminum radiator...

it's not too hard to pull eht oil pump and reclock the distributor driveshaft, you just have to unbolt the front sway bar from the frame rails

Little update, I got the radiator in last week and installed it. now this is what I see every time I go into the garage... pure sexiness....
Image
but as always more bad news, the 5spd transmission I bought and installed wont shift into second gear if its life depended on it. every other gear is ok. Lesson learned = don't believe tweakers when they say 1. there's no problem with an item or 2. they have rebuilt an item. Time to either rebuild this transmission or buy another used one. also the output shaft bearing is no good...
