hey i took off my head and the block looks good but the pistons have a little carbon buildup on three of them that takes up the whole surface area of the three pistons and one just has a very little do you think it is safe to leave ??? i want my motor to be tip top just dont know if this is a major deal of normal wear i would love to build the motor with forged internals but dont have the cash so i want to know if it is safe any help would be great thanks

remove it. if you can't take it to a machine shop and they can. it shouldn't be very expensive.

if your not going to do it right then don't do it at all.

is the engine still in your car?worse case senario, you should be able to get most of it off with a wire brush and a cleaning solvent.

yes it is. just do not use a wire brush on your ring lands. ONLY use an old ring or a ring groove cleaner on the ring lands.

there are different types of wire brushes. you don't want to use the most abrasive one but one that is stiff enough to scrape the carbon off without scraping up your pistons. and again, if you don't feel comfortable doing it, pay someone else to.
