I just got a G35X 2005 and was wondering if anyone knows what it takes to get a block heater installed. Also what about a recirculating heater. Are they any good?

I was stationed in Minot ND...

There are a few different types. One is a magnetic heater that goes on the oil pan. It's not as effective as the coolant heater type. They are spliced in-line with a coolant hose.

Thanks for the info. So far i have been waiting for the block heater to arrive at my local parts store. I was told also that a infiniti dealer will have to do the install of either the coolant heater or block heater so we will see how things turn out.

If yer cheap like me you can go to the mobile home/ trailer department and find the plug in heater that goes into the water pipes........it's a very small thin steel rod they use and it is perfect for sliding into the oil dipstick tube and will keep yer oil warm. Can ya tell I grew up in the podunk on a farm?? We used it for our deisel pickups when it got really cold. There are also freeze plug replacement plug-in types........just don't think they make 'em for our cars. Do G's even have freezeplugs?????

I wouldn't mess with plugs...

Just get the coolant-type heater. Simple to install and it will keep the engine warm. Make sure to use the proper oil weight for the temp.
