Block Heater on Infiniti EX35

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Is a block heater a standard feature on the EX35. I have never had a block heater on any of my prior cars. The manual indicates that "if so equipped" on pg 5-55.

Here's a stupid question ... where is the block heater located and what does it look like?

For those of you who live in the cold zone, are you considering installing a block heater?

Is this a DIY item, or does the dealer have to install this item to avoid voiding our warranty?

Nothing tells me that a Block Heater is standard equipment and I would not expect it to be.I'm not considering installing one. I don't think its necessary in southern Ontario these days. I have not had one since I lived in North Bay, Ont in the 1980's.

It turns out that the block heater is standard on my EX35 (tech). I do not know if it is standard on all models.

On popping the hood, I could not see a cord, or determine if a block heater was installed. Brought my EX for its service today and asked the service tech if my car was equipped with one. He said he would take a look once it was on the hoist. Turns out the coil was in its original wrapped position, so he unwound the cord and pulled it through the grill located below the front bumper.

I just have to get a 3prong timer and I will be ready for the -20C winters, not to mention saving on my gas consumption.

Can anyone verify this? Is this standard to all model? Where exactly under the front bumper the block heater wire is located?I remember seeing an EX35 Journey AWD base no option posted online and says engine block heater standard.

The cord for the block heater comes out on the right side (driver's side), just next to the camera.

I am not sure if the only way to access to the cord is from underneath the vehicle.
