i want to start by saying I SEARCHED FOR AN HOUR AND 30 MINUTES BEFORE I POSTED THIS!!! I couldn't find anything.

My 240 is pushing about 200k. thinking about getting another ka24e (gotta stick to my roots) before it kicks the bucket and am having trouble finding decent ones pulled from other 240's, but I see ka24e's pulled from sentra/stanza all over the place and was wondering if the blocks are different. My guess is that they are but was just looking for the official word on it.

thanks

how bad is your motor?

if i was in your shoes id pull a kae off a 240 and rebuild it while it was out of the car. at least that way you know the motor wont have any problems

welcome btw

I'd be curious too. I too am looking to build another SOHC on the side so I can drop it in complete. There aren't as many SOHC 240s in the yard as there is Altimas and such. From just observance, it looks like all the differences are in the front timing cover setup, so the rest should swap right over. I doubt Nissan made different casts of the same block, but who knows?

The motor is doing pretty good. 145psi +/- 5psi on all cylinders, a little valve noise and the usual timing chain rattle. Just looking 2-3yrs down the road when I'm out of school and have money to throw at my car.

The reason I ask about if a fwd ka, which i see all over the place, will fit in 240 is, as Cone Junky stated, original rwd ka motors aren't that easy to come by.

The big concern I have about the block differences is that are the mounting points the same. reason would say use the same block, but this world takes all kinds. If both blocks are the same then its easy enough to switch out the timing cover, the oil pan I assume, and even the head if need be.
