planning on buying an 80mm Blitz nur spec r cat back :naughty: for my 91 hatch, wanna swap out the KA for an SR but still saving up for that. if i buy and install the catback now on the ka that burns a good amount of oil, will any damage happen to the exhaust(due to the oil being burned) that will affect its performance when on the SR? and will it bolt on to the stock cat?
this is going to be my first real big upgrade, so any help will be greatly appreciated

great! and the catback will bolt on straight to my stock ka cat with no modifications? cause i dont wanna order it and find out that the Blitz piping doesn't fit on the cat.

if its a not a knock off then the piping will fit on the stock cat. but if for whatever unlikely reason it doesnt, then call them back and tell them the situation. they should fix it. and swapping to the sr will be the same piping just the down pipe you will need. there should be absolutely no modifications you will need to do. and thanks :) all work and mods done by myself.

also forgot whats the piping of the actual exhaust? not just the tip. cause you may need to redrill the srcrew holes bigger for 3 inch piping and may have an exhaust leak. but if its only 2.5 inch then you should be fine. and disregard this. :)

im buying it off of frsport.com and its a well known site. i was gonna go with the hks hi power, but the blitz nur spec r has a better exit angle, it gives it a more agressive look, and the sound is niiiice

Why don't you not waste your money on an unnecessary exhaust, and save for your swap. 80mm is 3.14 inches. That's WAY too big even for an SR unless you're pushing some SERIOUS air through it. On something N/A, it's ridiculous. You might as well be running open headers. Not to mention all that air is going to be going to a puny stock cat then a gigantic exhaust.

Save that $550 - $600 towards your SR. You'll be 1/3 of the way there. Or spend it on other things.

Just sayin.

then sir you will almost definitely have an exhaust leak. i have 3 inch piping cause im planning to turbo my KA-de. and i have a resonator where my cat would usually be. and its a 2.5" outlet which my piping is 3". and i have a leak. but what i did was, i took a drill with a 1/2" drill bit and made the cat holes bigger so it would have room to connect the piping holes and allow the piping to connect to the cat. and also not have to worry about the bolt threading back in to cat. so you will need bolts and nuts to tighten the exhaust. i went to lowes and got some of the grade 8 bolts so it wont rust.

is there any way i could replace the cat with piping that has 2.5in on one side and 3in on the other to make up for the gap?

yes sir that is possible. but finding it will be your issue, i tried to find it and i had no luck. but maybe i just searched in the wrong plACES. idk. you could maybe go to a muffler shop and have them do it. and just weld the cat on to the pipe. then that will solve the leak problem and also no bolts either. but you will have to cut the cat off again i believe since your sr swapping. or maybe the sr down pipe will bolt on the cat. idk. i never had a sr. or even looked at a sr downpipe installed.

well AZ89two4Tsx ive seen dyno charts showing an increase in power of 15 hp coming from a ka24de with a 3 in exhaust so i dont know where your getting the ridiculous  from unless you mean nasty. :ohno:

I have a HKS exhaust and when i was KA, i felt as it lost power due to the fact the pipping was to large for NA.

Why do I even bother?

Sir, you need to think before you purchase this exhaust.

3+ inches is overkill for even a mild SR. It's dumb on an N/A ka. Not only will it be loud, it will be stupid as you have the stock cat. Do you really think you're going to see all that supposed "15HP" with a stock cat? An exhaust is only as good as it's most restrictive point.

Not only will you be wasting your money, you will have a loud fart can to show for it. If you were smart, you would go to a muffler shop, get a custom 2.5" exhaust, a high flow cat, and a non fart-cannon muffler for around the same price. Most likely less. And it will all be WELDED, no clamps, no exhaust leaks.

Or if you want something a little nicer looking for the same price as your Blitz, look at BRM exhausts.
