Can someone tell me how I can reset this thing? I was cleaning out my car (removed the carpet, seats and center console) for various reasons and think I may have pulled apart and put backed some wires (yellow wires located below the arm rest) that may have placed the air bag in test mode. Any recommendations would be helpful.

Thanks

yellow colores wires are indeed air bag wires, disconnect the battery for at least 1 hour, make sure the wires are connected correctly, reconnect battery, should clear the flashing light.

Battery wont solve the airbag lite problem

Turn on the ignition to ON (engine not running) and press the door switch button at least 10 times within turning the switch on.....

Does this same thing work for a 91Q? I tried it, but I must have done something wrong, or there's something more serious going on. I turned the switch to the on position, where the windows would work. While it was there i pushed the door button in quickly many many times. The door lights turned off and on while doing this, but the air bag light never stopped blinking? Did I turn the key too far? Should I have started before the air bag light began to blink? What did I do wrong?

Well its possible something is actually wrong with the airbag!!! Sounds like you did the correct procedure, you just have to make sure you press it a god 10 times within 10 seconds.....

The procedure below posted by Cullenj76 on 12:44 AM 2/9/2006 worked to reset the flashing airbag light on my 1995 200SX and saved the dealers $95 diagnostic fee!

"Open the driver's door. Note the rubber covered button located low on the B pillar, a button which is pressed by the door when the door is closed. This is the Driver's Door Switch (DDS).

Turn the ignition from OFF to ON. Press the DDS at least 5 times within 7 seconds after turning the ignition switch ON. Turn the ignition OFF. Close the driver's door. Start the engine.

If the airbag warning lamp is still on (or still flashing), there is a fault in the Supplemental Restraint System which must be diagnosed and repaired. This is a job for your local friendly Nissan dealer. Information Provided By: Cullenj76"

Sorry to revive this from the dead... but that's only part of the story. This procedure puts the airbag computer into TEST mode. In that mode it will only flash if there is actually a code stored (a real problem). You need to run the SAME procedure a second time to put the airbag computer back into USER mode. Most likely, your airbag light will start to flash again then. You didn't break it again, it was blinking the whole time, you just had it in a mode where you couldn't see it. Even though there is no code for some stupid reason Nissan saw fit to make the airbag computer require a factory reset if you disconnect the battery for too long. My wife changed the battery on her '95 Maxima and her light's been flashing ever since then. I did the above procedure... there are no error codes. Put it back in user mode and the light starts flashing again. According to AllData (factory service manuals) you cannot reset the light without the Nissan 'Consult' diagnotic system... in other words you have to take it to the dealer or other service technician with the right equipment.

I didn't bother to worry about it until now as we're selling the car...
