Next time, disconnect the battery for several minutes before unplugging the light. This should prevent this from happening again.
If your dealer isn't a douche, see if they'll just reset it for you.
maybe next time just let the whole assembly dangle there? When I was farting around with my dash panels, I didn't feel a need to disconnect it, I didn't perceive that it would've really helped me get better access to anything...
