those are turn signals only. They only light up when you're turning. The side lights are marker/parking lights.

Hope this answers your question.

They are turn signals but by factory they are supposed to light up when you turn on the lights. From what I said on another thread, its probably because you have different bulbs in it. 7440 only have one filament but the 7443 have dual fiament which makes it light up when the headlights are on.

i havent changed out those bulbs and i dont plan to because i've read that if you upgrade to amber LED bulbs...that you'll have to add a load equilizer so that it works or doesnt blink faster than its supposed to cuz if you dont put a load EQ..then it'll either blink really fast or not at all...so i was hesitant about changing those bulbs and also the blinkers on the tail lights.

That might happen if there is a difference in resistance from using a different size bulb, so you might need a resistor. All it is is the dual filament which causes it to stay on and blink with the signal. To get the effect of it not lighting up but still blink all you have to do is either bend or break off the two wires in the middle of the bulb or cover it up with electric tape etc.

huh...I'll have to check at lunch to see if they're lit while the lights are on. I could be wrong...
