I just purchased a 2015 Altima SV with the tech package. This package included the extra safety features that I thought would be beneficial. Within 2 weeks of my purchase, I had the car back in for service for multiple issues. They replaced a door sensor which resolved 1 issue, but there are 3 additional concerns below.

1. The first and biggest issue is with the blind spot warning system. Every time it rains or the roads are wet you will get false alarms flashing at you while driving or turning corners. This is highly distracting and makes the system useless when the roads are wet. When talking with my dealer, the service manager has the same car and same problem. On my second visit to the dealership, I was handed a bulletin which states my exact issue. I open a case with Nissan customer care to ask for a fix and their response was the system is working as designed. I guess they do not see an issue with a safety device giving false alarms.

2. The 7" screen is very fuzzy when using the backup camera. Nissan says it's working as designed, even thou the same model car with the smaller screen is noticeably clearer.

3. The Nissan Apps that connect you with Pandora only works maybe 25% of the time, it normally says that there is an error, all while I can still stream music and make phone calls using bluetooth.

Issue #1 is something that I can not live with. Any other product would have been returned immediately.

I have already contact Nissan and they said the BSW was working as designed. I am looking for others that have had the issue with the BSW and ideas of how to get Nissan to resolve this. The dealer had sent me to Nissan as they say it's out of their hands.

Please open a trouble with Nissan by calling 1-800-NISSAN1. The more people that call and report the issue, the better chance of having them do something (I make myself laugh).

I opened one and asked them to fix the issue or replace the car. Of course, they said no and to go away.

I also opened a safety issue with the NHTSA, please go to the Safercar.gov website.

Thanks.

As far as your backup camera is concerned, is it clean? the lens is right above the license place in the recessed area on the trunk, and is prone to get dirty very easily. usually wiping it off with a microfiber towel works wonders. If you're talking about resolution, well you got the response you're going to get.

I hate to say it, but I'd rather rely on my own "headchecking" than a BSW system to tell me if there's someone in my blind spot. I would just turn the system off. The software for the Nissan Apps and the center display that Nissan is using on the Rogue and Altima are complete garbage. There are glitches galore and Nissan doesn't seem to care enough to fix it. There are plenty of Rogue owners experiencing the same heartburn.

The problem is NHTSA isn't going to do anything about the BSW system issue. It does not make the car unsafe to drive, at least relative to an issue with airbags erroneously deploying/not deploying during a collision or an ABS system failure. False positives on a system that is designed to be used in a manner that's intended to be a driver aid but has no effect on vehicle operation is likely just going to be ignored. If it was something like a preventative collision system that automatically brakes or a traction control system that affects throttle input, that would be a different story.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, but you're one of many and Nissan hasn't been receptive.

For the backup camera, their is supposed to be a cleaning system (what a joke), but you are correct with a quick clean it is better, but the resolution is what is really bad. At night it is useless.

For the BSW, if I would have know ahead of time, I would not have purchased it. It is part of a 1090.00 package. I do not feel it is correct to throw all that money away, just turn it off. I am still working with Nissan to find a resolution. Nissan is hoping for your solution, turn it off, no more problem. After filing a complaint with the BBB, Nissan called to setup a appointment with a regional service rep. I can only hope that Nissan will offer some type of resolution...

By posting, I want to make others aware of these issues and they are not going crazy. On another board I posted the same issues and at least 2 others replied they had the same issues. The quality of Nissan has gone down him dramatically with their latest redesigns. I for one, will not be owning another Nissan for a very long time. I had issues with a Mazda 25 years ago. I have never walked into a Mazda showroom again.

Hopefully the Nissan rep will help you come to a resolution with the issue. If you do manage to arrive at a satisfactory result, please let us know! Definitely would be a plus if people knew that they could resolve any issues by pursuing it in the way you have.

Good luck - I completely understand your frustration.

We'll the Nissan rep came out, we went for a long ride so he could verify my complaint, which he did. But, NIssan's stance is still the BSW is working as designed. Next step BBB arbitration.

It's obvious Nissan recognized the BSW system in the early second-gen Rogues was a problem - they revised the technology to utilize a Sonor-based implementation for the 2016 models. Now the new Murano, Maxima, Altima, and Rogue utilize the sonor-based system as opposed to the camera-based systems that are present on the 2014-2015 Rogue and the 2013-2015 Altimas.

Ditto on the BSW system being junk/over sensitive. In the rain when you need it most it's unreliable. Really get a dbl whammy since I leave for work @430am. If there's pine needles stuck to the dew it even picks them up.
