Stock one died.

I'm debating one of 3 routes and I would like your opinions since I don't have experience with it.

I'm going to buy new so please no one offer up any ebay specials etc or refer to price etc.

Choice a)T25G, i.e. SR20DET turbo. better flow than stock, not much more lag, BUT they are pricey new since no one uses them here.

b) T25G bored out to T28. Way more flow, not a lot more money..Will this be laggy as hell? Has anyone fitted this to a CA?

c) T03B, cheap turbos BUT i'll need a custom manifold made (which i don't mind paying for). I've "heard" that they spool up decently quick and can flow pretty big numbers and are a good alternative to the T28. The only draw back is I'll have to get a custom manifold made, BUT if I blow this turbo to they are cheap to replace..

So.. what do you guys think? Do you have any experiences with any of these setups that you'd like to share?I value this forums input!

Oh yea,

I don't want a drag car, so only having power at 5,000rpm+ sucks.

I love driving twisty backroads so I want good mid-range power which is where I'll tend to be.

I want usable power range.

Umm...a brand new T25 isn't much less than a brand new S15 T28BB.

u can find a S15 T28BB off ebay for about $850USD plus shipping.

i'm sure there's plenty of places that sell garret GT turbos for around the same price. T3/T4 hybrids are very inexpensive as well. a .64 a/r hybrid won't need 5000rpm to spool.

I've looked into it, and it's a lot less.

Re: MikeI don't want used. If I'm going to replace a blown used turbo I'd rather get a new one and not have to worry about what someone else has done (or don't know about) and not told me.. the last thing I want to do is have to replace again in a year rather than doing it "right" and just outright replacing it with a new one and probably not having to worry about replacing it for the rest of the life of the car.

A T03B setup with it's custom manifold will cost me about the price of a T28BB, so it looks like a good alternate..Plus BB is only about 8% faster than a wet bearing (once it's broken in), so I also have to consider replacement costs if I destroy the turbo in the future vs. any real spool speed gains..

Does anyone have any experience with a T03B on their CA?

go t3 set up... If my stocker dies that's what I'm gonna do. Might cost a little more up front, but IMO its worth it!

Go for aftermarket braded oil lines. A good T3 shouldn't need water lines installed. Just cap off your water lines and get a good stainless steel braided oil line.
