Blew my motor a couple of weeks ago. Just joined this site today. I was wondering what would be a good website to buy an engine from? I have been trying to find an engine locally with no luck and I don't want to buy another car because I love my z. Sorry if this is a noob question

Welcome and where are you located?

You can also try the facebook groups, try Z32 in the search. Also Infiniti J30 engines are basically the same, you will just have to change a few things on the outside like oil pan, oil filter housing, engine mounts, and I think a couple of other things. But internally they are the same.

If you have a N/A 300zx: a j30 engine will work with a few different bolt on parts and changing dipstick location (have more info on this swap if needed).

if you have a TT: you need a TT motor, or to rebuild a J30 or N/A 300zx motor with lower compression pistons at a minimum.

Your best solution would be to rebuild your current motor if possible, remember all of these motors are at least 20 years old now.

I'm located in El Paso Texas. And yes I have an na. Sorry I should've mentioned this in the beginning lol. Some dude on the marketplace on Facebook is trying to sell me a jdm motor with 50k miles on it from some Canadian jdm website but it sounds like a load of bull. Who sells the best rebuild kits?

I'm not a fan of the "low miles JDM engines" that come on a pallet. If it's on a pallet it is miles unknown anyone who tells you it has a certain milage with no speedo is full of crap. When you buy from a local salvage yard you know the miles because they had the whole car and document each engine as it comes in. Either way buying a used engine should be followed by doing the timing belt and any seals or gaskets that are suspect.

If your engine is bad but hasn't ruined the block I recommend a rebuild, If you deliver a short block and heads to your local machine shop and do the other teardowna nd assembly yourself you'll cut the labor bill in half.

Since you are in El Paso, look in the Dallas (8hrs) or Phoenix (6hrs). There is always a ton for sale in those areas, or go on Projectz32.com and start asking. Conceptz is in Phoenix, they would know where to get one if anything.

If you are looking to rebuild, you are easily looking close to 2k mainly just for the rebuild, unless you do what evildky says. There is a shop in houston that knows their stuff, but that is 10 hrs away.

I might follow up on those salvage yard engines. The first one only has 107k miles and was repoed because of drugs. It is just extremely dusty lol I haven't called about the second one yet but they both are really good prices.

if you have a 94-up you could buy a complete reman engine not cheap but all the work is done.
