hey i was on the freeway doing about 50 and my rad cracked in all my water came out and i didnt know. well anyway my car overheated and it started to slow down.. i just turned the engine off when i was still going on the freeway then i pulled over and towed it home. when i tryed to start it it just sound like the starter was turning the engine with out the head being on the engine.. so i took the plugs out and i had water in the frist 3 cylinders . and i did a compresstion test and i got between 35 - 40 on cylinders 1-5 and on cylinder and cylinder 6 i got 100. and i dont know what do it . what do you think i should do? someone told me that i should just replace the head gas it and it should fix all my problems is this true? becuase i didnt think so but im not sure

sounds like the headgasket if its around the same numbers on a couple of the cylinders. basically ur gonna have to change the hg. hopfully no further damage happened like a warped head or messed up pistons. since ur changing the hg u might want to pull ur pistons and check and see how the rings and such look. good luck man

Pull the head for sure and check the condition of the head gasket. It seems to be blown but for all cylinders? That is weird to me so I would guess it's more of a problem with your rings being fried. Just to be on the safe side, I would take out the cams, bring the head to a shop and have them resurface it. It's cheap insurance for the new head gasket that you will install while you're in there.

Take the head off, send it to the machine shop and have it checked and resurfaced. Even though most people say you don't have to check the deck on an iron block I would. You lifted the head off of the block. You will deffinately need new head bolts so maybe think arp. Good luck!!!

i think your ****ed

you need to have a machine shop inspect the block. but a mising piece of piston usually = block destroied.

hahahaha are you serious?! you have a head gasket for him?! nice.

I'm sorry man but those pics make it look like your cylinders are out of round and melted at the top. Or maybe that's just the head gasket fried in two spots. I'd bring it to a shop for inspection, but I'd also start looking for a new motor.

hg is still on the block so it makes it look more effed up than it is, also the coolant/oil on the pistons will distort it and the rb20 pistons are flattop from the factory with reliefs for the valves...

Put the motor back together and try it out ... the gasket looked a little war-torn but your pistons look fine just in need of a little cleaning.

Do you have better pics or more closeup ones showing the tops of each cylinder? Also, if you blew your head gasket I would STRONGLY encourage you to have your head resurfaced. It's very cheap insurance. ~$40

Looks like detonations helped you blow it. It often melt gaskets and pistons.Measure the block and check the head for damage. Resurface like they say.

And when you´re done, check the AFR and EGT.

There is a place in Ontairo that has 4 4AGE 20valve Silver tops for $450 each. No engine harness tho but still a slaming deal.
