Ok a bit of a background....set upz32 mafsdw 440cc injectorsemance tunenismo adj fprt3aem uegosafc1etcstcok internalsWas running a ka-t on an emance tune for about 4 months and 5000 miles or so. Always had a problem of running rich in boost with it but i squared that away with my safc. But recently i overheated and blew my headgasket so i figured i have a spare ka in the garage that it'd be easier to just swap it out. Which it was that took a lot less than it woudl have took me to swap out a head gasket and get the head checked etc....So i swap in my motor and keep in mind its basically the same as my old oen except this oen has all the emissions removed, unlike my old one which just had the egr pipe cut and welded shut and the lines to the charcoal canister plugged. Only hting i did to this motor was re do the intake manifold gaskets, and reseal the front timing cover, and did the timing chains.

So here's the problem.... I start up the car starts like normal but has an unusually high idle around 2 grand and fluctuates a bit. Revs smoothly for the first minute or so, then letting it idle for a bit it starts to miss and my wideband reads like 10 at idle! Then from there my idle is crappy and it won't rev because of the plugs getting fouled out so badly. And as the idle gets worse and the plugs get more fouled my vacuum goes down to like 10. from the 15-18 where it starts out at when it's running smooth once i throw in new plugs.

This whole thing is pretty strange seeing as how it's the EXACT same setup that i had with the old motor and it's giving me all this crap. This is leading em to believe possibley one of the the sensors on this motor is bad? But which one would cause a problem such as this? coolatn temp sensor? 02 sensor? etc...

I'm kind of stumped and am tired of buying new plugs for this slut.If anyone has any ideas be sure to let me knowany and all help is appreciated.

Scan the ECU for codes first off...that's the best help you can possibly get.

If it's a sensor, the odds are you can swap the known working on off your old motor

When you swapped in the injectors to the new motor, did you use new o-rings? It kind of sounds like a stuck injector.

take out the fuel rail and pinch the hose to see if stuck open injector or leaky injector. that seems like it can be the problem. plus do you have a fuel pressure gauge? if you do then w/ stuck open or leaky injectors your pressure should drop quite fast.

yeah i was thinking injectors as well but the thing is that i swapped out the whole rail not just injectors individually so the o rings shouldn't have been affected right? I'm going to swap out the o-rings regardless so that i can rule that out though. And i will also be scanning the ecu as well. Just trying to get some places to look.

Then odds are its something from the new motor. Is the throttle body or IACV staying open too much?

I'd scan ECU codes first...

The throttle body is staying normal, but i don't know how to go about checking if the iacv is staying open too much? I'll be scanning the ecu shortly once i search how to haha.thanks

Ok looks like i threw a code 13 it kept doing that oen over and over repetaedly. blink once then pause fora sec then blink 3 times fast.

So it looks like that's the only code i'm throwing and that appears to be a coolant temperature sensor. So i guess i'll be swapping that out with my old one or better yet throwing a new one in there. That's kind of strange though that i'm having these problesm and the only code i'm throwing is that. i've never heard of a coolant temp sensor causing problems like this........well we'll see i suppose

The CTS can alter timing and fuel...So it will reek havoc if something is funny.

It only takes a couple seconds to pop it out, but be careful with the hot fluid that comes shooting out

Yeah well i changed it out and it helped a bit now it doesn't seem to be fouling out the plugs anymore or anything like that. Idle is still a bit high and vacuum a bit low as well around 15-16ish. But now i'm addressing a coolant leak, and small oil leak and am gonna change out the oil before i go ahead and take it for a drive.

Thanks for the responses so far! I really appreciate it and any others to come as well. I just wanna have at least another month of driving ka-t until the snow falls here.

What are your safc in and out settings? My car never would run super rich with my emance tune when I used 2 in 2 out like he said I should.. I ended up using 1 in 9 out.. weird, but it works perfect.
