Lots of new problems introduced by helicopter, one being static discharge. The lift rotors generate a LOT of static. When lowering a person onto a grounded object, the static discharge can be dangerous to the person being dropped off. It's bad enough that it could possibly kill, and likely knock the person out...the latter being as good as dead for anyone dropping onto a transmission line anyway. And that's a really tiny target to hit. You'd need one Hell of a pilot to pull that off.sx moneypit wrote:Seems to me it would be easier (and safer)to drop them down by helicopter.I know one thing, there is no amount of money you could pay me to do that job!
Ugh I agree, I get nervous just climbing down a ladder from a 1 story house.RobPaulson wrote:also, i'd imagine climbing down being 100x worse. good lord.

I applied because it was a job doing something similar to what I do now (low voltage installer) and heights really don't scare me, after all I went to Airbourne school and Air Assault school when I was in the Army, one you jump out of a plane, the other you rappel out of a helicopter. So I figured there wouldn't be too many people applying for the job so it can't hurt to try.RobPaulson wrote:Chaotic_Warlord wrote:I actually applied for a job in my area doing something like thisdude seriously? wtf made you think you could do something like this?
