ahhhhh i've finally narrowed my problems down to my timing. i believe the correct term for what my engine was doing is 'misfiring' creating that 'puh' sound out of the exhaust like it's trying to start. tomorrow morning that ish should be running..if not then i have no idea what else to do. When i'm getting the timing chain in the correct position, which way do i turn the crankshaft? My chilton's (biggest waste of 20 bux) does not specify and it might be dif for the sr. i pulled my CAS out and i do not have a yellow or orange dot, but i still think i can go by the phase2motortrend and/or the one on heavy throttle. wish me luck tomorrow!

Standing and looking at the motor from the front, the motor turns clockwise. Do not turn counterclockwise unless tensionor is fully extended to hold chain in place.

u can either go get the timing light, or take off the valve cover to see if the marks are lined up, that link you sent me on aim is all u need to do the timing gl

Motor at TDC exhaust cam goes at 12:30 intake cam is 20 teeth behind that (about 10 0clock I think) That's whitht he motor TDC (2nd dot on the pulley).

And please next time come up wiht a subject for your post that's easier to search, how about "cam timing" or somthing..... "Timing is Gay" really dosn't tell us much......

Have you hooked up your oil pressure sensor? Have you looked through the oil fill cap while someone cranks and see oil splashing around? Do not run the motor too much if you don't know for sure that you have good oil pressure.

yeah i believe the oil pressure sensor is plugged in, i had to do some wiring down around there by the alternator and that works so i believe it is plugged up. i unplugged the cas so i could crank it to see if any oil would be squirting on the cams, but my friend said he saw nothing. I was told to let the car idle for approx 20 minutes, and if it doesn't go off then manually prime through the turbo oil return line..(i have an idea of what it is but i'm not too sure..some1 explain it a little bit). Also i noticed a knocking sound that sounded like it was coming from the valve cover..i haven't pin pointed it yet but it should be either timing chain related or oil related (lifters knocking due to lack of oil)? get back to me asap :D

If you run your car for 20 minutes with the oil pressure light on it will be the end of your motor. No oil pressure is a very bad thing. You should have pressure after turning the car over for about 10 seconds. You should not start turbo vehicles on dry filters! Always disconnect your CAS and turn it over until the oil light goes out. If you can't get it to go out by turning the car over, then try priming it manually.

Are you sure its straight? Mine looked straight when I looked but it barely was up against the pickup.

yeah i just found that out turbo..i pulled it off and had a ring of paint missing from the oil pickup sitting on it..so as we speak me and a friend are about ready to put the pan back on, but since it's sunday and me not having any liquid sealer..kinda halts the process of seeing if it's fixed :-/. i hope this solves both my oil pressure light and my ticking problem..

It definitely fixed the all the problems i were having! No more ticking until up to temperature..but i think that is because of either the oil/dust burnoff, timing, or ic piping not being connected...i can't wait until i get my ic piping..my fmic should be here within a few days..but i have to scrounge up some money unless my friend sources me some of his unused piping :P.
