How do you bleed the cooling system on the CA18DET RWD? I checked the FSM and it doesn't say jack. I can hear air bubbles in mine though. I want them out.

The coolant... just pop off the radiators hoses, take out your thermostate, hook a hose up to it and try anyway to get it semi sealed so it all doesnt flow back out and pump water through it. Make sure you aim the lower hose down caus some nasty **** will start coming out :) Same with the radiator.

I think he means how do you bleed the air out of the system;)

most motors (for example the KA you used to have) have a bleeder screw to release air from it. I believe that this bleeder screw is at the top most point that the coolant flows through the system, allowing the air to collect here. You generally open this screw with the motor running until coolant flows out of it, leaving the system free of bubbles.

For the CA18 however, the highest point in the cooling system is the radiator cap (I THINK!), so IT acts as your bleeder.

Take off your radiator cap (make sure the motor is cool before you do this) and allow the car to run. While its running and heating up, keep adding water/antifreeze until it is topped off. Make sure you let it get hot enough to open the thermostat. I also added some water to my overflow tank to allow it to suck up extra if it needs it. Mine seems to be running fine using this method:)

and to make positive it is, and/or to make it go a little faster, jack the front of the car up maybe a foot or so. This will put the filler at a much higher point, and naturally the air will be drawn to the top. rev the motor lightly every now and then, and eventually... you won't have any more air
